About
The genre label "alternative country" usually just refers to country bands that don't write hooks big enough to take over Nashville. We believe that Kansas City band Big Fat Cow is what "alternative country" should actually refer to. The typical country elements are there -- twangy vocals, lonesome slide guitar, etc. -- but this band has a taste for subversion and absurdity that surprises you with an effect similar to Cameron Winter yelling "THERE'S A BOMB IN MY CAR." Big Fat Cow's new EP "Garbage in, Garbage Out" features a multiphase, eight-minute song called "Goodbye Gram Parsons," if that tells you anything. This is a lot of words to say they're a good band that you'll enjoy seeing them live.
They're playing Duffy's on August 27 for the first College Night of the semester, along with two of our very favorite Lincoln bands, Eden Park and Joyrager. See you there…
